5 Prompt Friday

September 4, 2008 at 10:27 pm

Here you go, some ideas to keep your pen flying across the page this weekend:

  1. Flip to a page in your thesaurus, point and begin a sentence or story or idea with that word
  2. Go outside. Close your eyes and use your sense of smell and hearing. Write what you notice.
  3. Make a list of 10 things you fear. It can be: not making the team; your parent losing their job; giving the wrong answer when picked on in class; not getting invited to the big Halloween party. Use this list to create a story and a character. Exaggerate the fears.
  4. Pick one of the following emotions and write about it as an essay or short story: jealousy, excitement, boredom, mischievous.
  5. Write about a time when you couldn’t keep someone else’s secret to yourself!

Happy writing!
