I get so Emotional…

September 10, 2008 at 10:14 pm

Stumped for an idea? Try this exercise:

On a blank sheet of paper, write down as many emotions as you can think of – leave a couple of inches of space between your words. Then tear these into strips, drop them in a bowl and pick one when you’re stuck. See how well you can actually describe this emotion, without using obvious adjectives and adverbs. Ever play Taboo? Same idea. Now use this emotion in a character or for the basis of a story. Go!

Here are some samples:

  • jealousy
  • excited
  • hungry
  • afraid
  • nervous
  • guilty
  • anxious

Any more you can think of? Don’t be shy (oops! There’s one!) Share it with us…
