NaNoWriMo: Rounding the final lap!

November 25, 2008 at 1:03 pm

nano_ywp_participant_icon_red_small  Whew! Did you think just 25 days ago you would be able to accomplish all that you have through the NaNo challenge? I sure didn’t! I mean, of course, there was a glimmer of hope, a shred of excitement, a smidgen of belief.  But actually tapping out the words, sentences, paragraphs and chapters on my keyboard each day helped to shrink that fear and grow that confidence.

I’ve been hearing stories from my young writing students: two so far have completed their novels (beginning, middle and endings in tact!) Both of these writers surpassed their word count goals. More have reported they are still working, but pushed through the barrier and are also beyond their word count goals!  Still others are writing every chance they get and not yet at their goal, are tremendously proud of what they’ve written so far.

And you should be proud, too. You set out to conquer the unknown and whether or not you reached or will reach that finish line by midnight on Nov 30, you are a part of a new community: a community of novelists!  And you will stand up and cheer with the thousands across the globe when NaNoWriMo comes to a satisfying end!

Find a way to celebrate! See the events page if you live near Downers Grove, IL.  All young NaNo’ers are invited!
