Hi Adam. I like your advice about having goals for writing. I write for myself, but I think I may want to be an author one day too. My questions– How many hours a day do you work on writing a book? Does most of your writing time need to be dedicated to the book or can you still do other kinds of writing at the same time?

Appreciate the questions, Anna. So you think you might want to be a writer? AWESOME! Ever think about blogging? It’s great practice. Plus, you meet really cool people who love writing too—like Mary Jo 🙂

Most days I write for about three hours (at various times of day). Sometimes I’ll be out at the coffee shop before dawn with my laptop. If I’m really “feeling the flow” of what I’m working on, then I might write for most of the day. Some days I work on a few different projects. It’s really simple to do by keeping a neat desktop and labeled folders.

As for how long it takes to write a book… Well, most times longer than you expect; other times quicker than imagined. If it’s something with deadline, I begin far in advance and edit as often as possible until I run out of time.

Enjoyed your questions 🙂 Keep writing, Anna!
