Welcome Young Writers!

Whether you love to weave stories, write personal essays or create poetry, this is the PLACE TO BE!

You’ll find other writers like you, answers to writing and publishing questions, and great sites to check out.

Each week, I hope to give you a topic to write about or  “writing prompts.”  I will do my best to answer any of your writing or publishing questions. I’ll also alert you to new magazines looking for young writers or offering writing contests.

Make sure to keep us up to date on your successes: a high grade or an award on your writing;  glowing compliments on your short story; or if you published a piece of work.  Be proud! This is your place to brag!

Come back often!

Happy writing!

Hey, thanks! Glad you like it! No forums yet, I’m pretty new to blogging, not sure if forums can be added on wordpress – but great idea. I’ll definitely look into.

Enjoy & bring your writing buddies over!

Great site. It is refreshing to hear about people looking to be published.

I am 17 years old, the Youth Community Correspondent for the North and East Manchester Advertiser and member of Cleland Thom’s premier gold standard mentoring scheme.

    Check out my website: samsondada.com

I am adding this site to my blogroll. I hope you can do the same for me.

Wow, very impressive for a 17-yr-old. At 17, I was only a correspondent for “trouble!” ; ) I’ll check your site out now! Thanks for adding me! I’ll do the same.

Great stuff. What’s your target age group here? I’m wondering which of my kids should be reading this blog. (All of them?)

Hi C. Grammich, Thanks for stopping by. I write to target the average 4th-8th grader, however, the content is useful for writers of any age. Many of the readers from my other blog stop by for concrete tips and writing prompts. (My other blog is writerinspired.wordpress.com)
Come back soon, with all of your kids!

NaNoWriMo is the abbreviation for National Novel Writing Month, which happens every year during the month of November, where writers world-wide vow to write like mad until they complete a new novel from start to finish. Last year, 2008, was the first time I participated (and won!) Everyone signs onto the NaNo site and keeps track of how many words they write each day. For adults, the goal is 50,000 words. For young writers, they are able to set their own goals based on their age or grade level in school. My FRoG class participated last November, as well! Go to the blogroll on the sidebar of this blog to find Young Writers NaNo for tons of info and cool links and forums.

Hi Nicholas – thanks for posting and visiting! How cool that you’ll be putting together a site for kids. Once it’s up, send me the link and I’ll send my readers over to check you out! However, since this is a site for teens and kids, I cannot post your email contact info, but would be happy to post your blog or website address once it’s up! Thanks for understanding!

Hi ayunda! Thanks for stopping by. This blog is created specifically for young writers who love to write and read and share their work. I often post writing prompts, writing tips and links to great sites for inspiration, contests, etc. I am also beginnin gto host authors who share their experience of publication and free book giveaways.
Feel free to browse around and leave comments! I am always looking for stories written by young writers to share on this blog, too. If you have anything to share, pls email me: mjcwriter”at”comcast”dot”net

Hi, I’m a little lost. This site has been really motivational and all but do you actually write anything here, or do you read the tips and write in Microsoft Words and workbooks? Sorry for the trouble

      Natalie,

Thanks for stopping in! Mostly, the tips and prompts are to help your writing on your own, in your notebook or Word. Sometimes, there are contests and “calls for submission” where you’d submit your stories for publication here! Feel free to comment on any of the prompts with ideas of your own, or parts of a story it helped to inspire. Happy Writing!
